Published in June 2011, Third Pole Environment became the 13th Policy Brief in the series – taking its place amongst other key environmental issues as a focal point for the UNESCO-SCOPE program (http://www.icsu-scope.org/). The Third Pole Environment Policy Brief outlines key questions in the Third Pole region and their consequences for ecosystems and society.

The series focuses on emerging and critical environmental issues. The policy brief builds on the contributions of experts from the first two international TPE workshops and reviews current knowledge, highlights trends and controversies, and opens perspectives for policy planners, decision makers and stakeholders in the community. The series was launched in 2006 by UNESCO and SCOPE; UNEP also partners in its publication.
