"Chinese scientists should think globally and put themselves at the forefront of cutting-edge science. They must demonstrate leadership, developing new research initiatives and chairing international programmes. A good example is the Third Pole Environment programme..." said Dr. Changhui Peng, University of Quebec, in his latest report to Nature.
In the report, Third Pole Environment (TPE) program initiated by Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research was particularly cited as a model of qualitative study in the Chinese scienitfic effort.
The report was composed by a Chinese scientist now working both in China and Canada. Having closely interacted with the international scientific community and as a foreign expert now, his personal view was objective. Yet his appraise of the TPE program was an affirmation of ITP's effort in joining international scientific effort to understand environmental changes in the Third Pole region and to realize a human-nature harmony.
