A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on April 8, 2013, between ITP and Myanmar Geosciences Society (MGS) at Beijing. According to the MoU, ITP will strengthen cooperation with the MGS in areas including the joint establishment of field GPS stations and AWS stations to understand the tectonic activities and dominant climatic and environmental patterns in Myanmar, and collaboration in young talents cultivation.
The three delegates from MGS were invited by Prof. YAO Tandong. The sign of the MoU is conducive to further understanding climate and environment in the Third Pole region. It will also allow the study of the tectonic plate in and around the Tibetan Plateau, thus contributing to the holistic understanding of the Tibetan Plateau uplift history.
