2005 Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement was held on April, 8th, inviting prize winners and some world acknowledged scientists to give lectures and exchanges views concerning the recent climatic and environmental changes worldwide. Among the laureates, there was Prof. Lonnie G. Thompson, professor at the Ohio State University and the Deputy Director of ITP’s Academic Consultative Committee. He won the honor for his devoted studies in mountainous regions for years and his innovative insights into global climatic change. Prof. Yao Tandong, his twenty-year colleague in glaciological study (esp. on the Tibetan Plateau) and Director of ITP, was also present as an honorary guest at the ceremony.
