On the afternoon of June 10, 2005, the director Duoji and other major officials from the Division of Science and Technology in the Tibetan Autonomous Region met with crew members in the CAS 4th scientific expedition to Mt. Everest.
Prof. Kang Shichang, team leader of the complex scientific expedition recalled the efforts all the crew members had made in studying atmospheric physics, atmospheric chemistry, geology, ecology and environment, glacier and water resources, etc. He also attributed the success of this expedition to the persistent education of the advancement of CPC and the unstinting support from the local government.
Among the participants of the CAS expedition, there was also the local university-the Tibet University, who found more common ground with ITP in future cooperation, such as studying the variation of ultra-violet in Mt Everest regions and the velocity kinetics of Lake Namco this July. The university also pledged more support and help from the Division of Science and Technology for its cooperation with ITP in respects of scientific research and talents education.
Director Duoji extended his congratulations to the expedition members. He affirmed the courageous performance of those scientific staff, and believed that their efforts in the study of the Tibetan Plateau would help in the development of science and technology in Tibet, as well as the wellbeing of Tibetans. He also expressed the willingness of the local government to give CAS’s scientific research support at their need.
