Invited by the NSFC and DFG, five German delegates, Mr Martin Schneider from SWR, Ms Hildegard Werth from ZDF, Mr Dr. Norbert Lossau from Die Welt, Dr Eva-Maria Streiser from the Division of Media and Public Relationship in DFG, and Dr Ingrid Kruessman from the Division of East Asia in its Bureau of International Cooperation visited the ITP in Beijing on Nov. 13, 2006.
Prof. Yao Tandong welcomed them and introduced to them the history and recent development ITP has achieved in her scientific research together with international cooperation over the past two years. Those delegates were afterwards guided to the laboratories of land-surface process and of geodynamics, where lab staff demonstrated the operation and working mechanisms of some key equipment. Accompanying scientific staff in the institute also exchanged views with those delegates about their interested questions.
German press went on this trip to appreciate the ongoing scientific development in China and Sino-German cooperation in the academic exchange. Besides the ITP, the delegates also visited the Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and other Chinese universities.
