Beijing, November 22-Prof. Jeffrey T. Freymueller of University of Alaska Fairbanks visited ITP this Tuesday. Well accomplished in solid earth sciences research, Prof. Freymueller shared his latest research with ITP scientific staff entitled “Separating hydrologic, cryospheric and tectonic deformation: Examples from Alaska and the Tibetan Plateau”. Taking examples from Alaska ice field and the Tibetan Plateau, he illustrated latest progresses in GPS measurement of crustal movement and discussed diverse impacts of water, cryosphere and tectonic activities on crustal movement.
The presentation was followed by inspiring discussions with ITP scientific staff. The academic exchanges were believed as conducive to joint studies of the Plateau uplift and evolution, a theme of sharedinterest by both sides.
