The 3rd workshop on Land Surface Processes was held in ITP on January 11, 2011, focusing on the summarization of latest discoveries in land surface monitoring and modeling. It also witnessed a thorough discussion of such issues as field observation, data quality controlling, application and improvement of numerical model, parameterization of surface flux and development of driving dataset of land surface modeling in China.
Called upon by ITP Profs. YANG Kun and MA Yaoming, the workshop brought together about 40 researchers and students from various institutes and universities in China, including ITP, Beijing Normal University, CAREERI and Institute of Remote Sensing Application, CAS (IRSA).
Participants of the workshop also decided on holding a training class to young researchers on processing turbulence flow data. The training class was proposed to be held at the end of February this year.
The next workshop, 4th Land Surface Processes workshop, will be held in IRSA in 2012.
