Deliang Chen, elected member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and professor at University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and Prof. Chongyu Xu of University of Oslo, Norway, visited ITP Beijing during May 6-8, 2012. They were invited by ITP Prof. YAO Tandong to conduct academic exchanges with ITP scientists and explore potential fields in hydrometeorological cooperation on the Tibetan Plateau.

A workshop was hosted to acquaint scientists from both sides of each other’s research. Prof. Xu presented an overview of the hydrological modeling under the changing environment. And nine ITP professors thereafter introduced each of their own academic activities on the Tibetan Plateau, ranging from field station networks at play on the Plateau to scientific cooperation with central Asia, from impact of black carbon on Tibetan glaciers to water stable isotope study, and from in situ observation to hydrological modeling on the Tibetan Plateau. Profs Deliang Chen and Chongyu Xu were also issued Certificates of Employment by ITP director Prof. Yao as adjunct professors at ITP.

 

Deepened mutual communications and academic exchanges took place regularly during their visit at ITP.More cooperation and academic exchanges were expected to follow along.
