Invited by Prof. Fahu Chen, CAS member and Director of the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research (ITP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Dr. Alicia Newton, senior editor of Nature Geoscience, visited ITP and gave a report themed “Publishing in the Nature journals” on April 23, 2018. More than 30 experts and scholars from ITP and other institutions took part in this activity and had detailed discussion with Dr. Alicia Newton.
Prof. Fahu Chen warmly welcomed Dr. Alicia Newton and presided over the event. First, Dr. Alicia Newton gave a report on how to publish articles in the Nature journals, which contains a detailed introduction of the review process, the standard of review and the way to deal with the rejected manuscripts. She then answered the questions from the participants. After that, Prof. Fahu Chen introduced the three campuses of ITP, its achievements, prospects, personnel composition, research field and the TPE international program. After that, Profs. Xiaomin Fang, Juzhi Hou, Hui Zhao, and associate professor Xin Wang from ITP and other institutions presented their recent research progresses, based on which Dr. Alicia Newton gave constructive suggestions on how to make the manuscript more attractive and convincing.
This exchange has deepened scientists’ understanding of the review rules of Nature journals. It also offers a great platform to promote ITP.
