Prof. Samuel S.P. Shen in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, San Diego State University, is giving a report at ITP Beijing this Saturday morning.
Expert in optimal estimation, he and his group have done many studies with spectral method and summarized a systematic theory to estimate the sampling errors of an inhomogeneous field. Their studies have been cited worldwide. In particular, their theory to estimate the uncertainty in global warming was adopted by IPCC Report 2001, proving the significance of relevant study in climate change estimation.
Report: Spectral approach in spatial optimization average and its application in estimating global temperature change
Venue: meeting room on the second floor of ITP office building
Time: 10.30 am, Saturday, June 26, 2010.
The report will be presided over by Prof. YAO Tandong. We welcome your participation and involvement in the discussion!
